Sfântul, slăvitul și întru tot lăudatul Apostol Zina (Zenas sau Zenon) a fost unul din Cei Șaptezeci și este pomenit de Biserica Ortodoxă împreună cu aceștia în 4 ianuarie, iar la 27 aprilie și 27 septembrie este pomenit împreună cu Sfinții Apostoli Marcu și Aristarh.
Viața
Sfântul Apostol Zina a fost ucenic și împreună-lucrător cu Sfântul Apostol Pavel. El era numit avocat, și pentru că era o persoană învățată se ocupa de aspectele juridice în procesele bisericii. El este menționat în Epistola Sfântului Apostol Pavel către Tit (Epistola către Tit 3, 13): „Pe Zenas, cunoscătorul de lege, și pe Apollo trimite-i mai înainte, cu bună grijă, ca nimic să nu le lipsească.” Ulterior, Sfântul Zina este numit episcop în orașul Diospolis (sau Lida) din Palestina.
Se pare că a scris o Viață a Sfântului Apostol Tit, care nu s-a păstrat (cf Sinaxarului pe 25 august).

Condac, glasul al 4-lea:
- Ca pe o stea luminoasă, Biserica totdeauna te-a agonisit pe tine, Apostole Zina, cu minunile tale cele de multă dăruire luminându-se. Pentru aceea strigăm lui Hristos: Mântuiește pe cei ce cu credință cinstesc pomenirea Apostolului Tău, ca un milostiv.
Iconografie
- Dionisie din Furna, în Erminia sa (ed. Sophia, București, 2000, p. 150) arată că Sf. Apostol Zenas se zugrăvește ca un bărbat nu prea bătrân, cu păr cărunt, cu barba rotundă, care ține în mână un sul înfășurat, însemnul propovăduirii sale apostolice.

Life
The holy Apostle Zenas was a disciple and co-worker with the Apostle Paul. He was called a lawyer, since he was a learned man and led juridical matters in church courts. He is mentioned in Paul's Epistle to Titus (Titus 3:13): "Help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way; see that they lack nothing." Afterwards, St. Zenas became bishop of the city of Diospolis (or Lydda) in Palestine.

Lod war durch seine Lage an der Straße von Jaffa nach Jerusalem schon in der Antike ein wichtiger Verkehrsknotenpunkt.
Nach biblischer Darstellung (1. Buch der Chronik 8, 12) wurde Lod bei der Landnahme der Israeliten vom Stamm Benjamin gegründet. Nach der Zerstörung durch die Assyrer wurde Lod im 5. Jahrhundert v. Chr. wieder besiedelt und erhielt im folgenden Jahrhundert durch die Ansiedlung von Griechen den Namen Lydda.
Die Apostelgeschichte (Kap. 9, 32) berichtet, dass Petrus in Lod einen Mann heilte. Im Jahr 67 nahmen die Römer die Stadt ein und benannten sie in Diospolis (Stadt des Zeus) um.
